How to Create Preset Folders in Lightroom
Figuring out how to create a folder to organize your presets in Lightroom is a bit harder than it should be! In this super quick tutorial, we’ll show you how to create new preset folders to organize your Lightroom Presets.
No more sorting through hundreds of presets in your User Presets folder! This is the simple guide for making preset folders in Lightroom, using Lightroom Classic CC.

1. Right-Click Any User Preset or Custom Preset in Your Presets Panel
Start by right clicking any user preset or custom preset that you’ve installed into Lightroom. This will not work if you right click the presets that come pre-loaded with Lightroom.
When you right-click the preset, select the option ‘Move’. For this tutorial we’re working with the Jackson Groves 2018 & 2019 Ultimate Presets Pack (Desktop and Mobile).
2. Navigate through the Groups and select ‘New group…’
Once you click ‘Move’ it will open the ‘Move Preset’ dialog box where you can view all your Preset Folders or ‘groups’ in the Lightroom Presets Panel.
Choose the very first option at the top ‘New group…’
Title your new presets folder to keep track. You can use folders to organize presets by different creators, for different seasons and themes, or just for personal favorites!
3. Move and Import Presets to the Folder
That’s it! Once you click ‘Create’, your new presets folder will create and the preset you originally selected will move to this folder.
From there you can right click more presets and choose to move them into your new folder. Or you can import new presets directly into this folder by right-clicking the folder and choosing ‘Import’.

Alternative Method
If you’re looking for another simple method to organize your presets, you can also create new preset folders while you’re making custom presets.
1. Click ‘Create Preset..’
Then click the ‘Groups’ drop-down, and you can once again select to make a ‘New Group..’.

Thanks for the comment Pavi. Yes, if you right-click the folder, you should have the option to import presets directly to this specific folder.
Great! Is there any way i can make preset folders on mobile?
This is very good. Thanks. But I seem to have a mix of presets. Some right click and move is an option. Others move is not an option, seem the author does not want the user to have this ability? Can it be overwritten or is the author the only one who can do this?
i cant install the presets
I appreciate your tutorial although I have already figured this out. My issue is with Adobe and with all the technical geniuses they have, you would think they would able to allow you to import a folder and stay in the folder instead all presets being imported individually, create a folder then move the presets to the folder. If you have more than a few presets this is a huge time killer!
Could not agree more Bob. It is so frustrating that the Lightroom team won’t invest more time into improving the presets experience on both desktop and mobile. I can’t for the life of me figure out why.
